A New Book "Pickaway County Place Names" Is Now Available - Wednesday, December 23, 2009

The hardback book is now available and will make a great gift for that hard-to-buy-for person or for your own research library.  It is available now for $35 dollars plus tax at the Clarke-MayMuseum at 162 West Union Street or at the Historical and Genealogical Library at 210 North Court Street, Circleville, Ohio.  Hours for both facilities are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.  The library is also open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Terry Frazier, past president of the Pickaway County Historical Society has written and compiled a book entitled “Pickaway County Place Names.”  Frazier, who has had a life-long interest in geography, has spent years collecting historic names and maps of PickawayCounty.  If you have done research in PickawayCounty you probably have come across names of places that no longer exist, such as Salem, Mackey Ford, and ToadRunSchool and that no longer appear on maps.  The Historical Society is proud to sponsor the publication of Frazier’s book as part of PickawayCounty’s 2010 bicentennial.
